Privacy Policy

Pratela is a lawn-care planning app. We designed it to need as little of your data as possible, and we do not show ads, sell data, or track you across other apps or websites. There is no account and no login — we never ask for your name, email, or password.

What the app stores on your device

Your lawn profile (the name you give the lawn, size, grass type, sun, climate zone, equipment, problems), your task history, notes, and any lawn photos you take. This lives on your device and, if you enable it, in your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). We (the developer) cannot read your iCloud data — only you and Apple can.

What leaves your device, and why

Lawn photos — when you use photo diagnosis, the onboarding photo, or a health check-in, the image is sent to our processing backend (Supabase Edge Function) and on to our AI provider (Anthropic) to describe the lawn's condition. Photos are used only to produce that assessment; they are not used to identify you and are not kept for advertising.
Task / lawn details for AI text — to write the plain-language "why now" and onboarding help, limited task and lawn details are sent to the same backend and Anthropic. Much of this runs on-device (Apple Foundation Models) and never leaves your phone at all.
Location for weather — when you search for your town, the text you type is sent to Open-Meteo's place search, and the town you pick (its coordinates) is sent to Open-Meteo's weather API. This is used only for the forecast that tunes your schedule. Pratela does not use your device GPS.
How-to video lookup — when the app suggests a relevant tutorial for a task, it sends the task title and its one-line description to our backend, which queries the YouTube Data API (Google) and asks Anthropic to pick the most relevant result. No lawn profile, location, or photo is sent for this.
Anonymous usage analytics — to understand which features are used and to improve the app, the app sends anonymous events (a random per-install ID that is not tied to your identity, plus which screens you open, coarse lawn characteristics — grass type, a size band, climate zone, hemisphere, sun, lawn phase, care mode, goal, equipment and reported problems — and whether AI ran on-device or in the cloud). We do not send your name, email, precise location, or photos in analytics.
Device check — the app uses Apple's App Attest so our backend only answers genuine copies of Pratela. It proves the app is authentic; it does not identify you.
Purchases — subscriptions are handled by Apple (StoreKit). We never see your payment details.

Third parties we use

Apple — App Store purchases, App Attest and iCloud sync (your private database).
Supabase — our backend proxy (keeps API keys off your device) and anonymous analytics store.
Anthropic — AI model provider for photo assessment, explanations and choosing how-to videos.
Open-Meteo — town search and weather forecasts.
Google (YouTube Data API) — finds relevant how-to videos for a task.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no advertising scripts. It is served by Vercel, whose servers keep standard request logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views: it uses no cookies, does not track you across sites, and identifies a visit only by a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours.

Data retention

On-device and iCloud data stays until you delete it (delete the lawn, or uninstall the app).
Photos sent for assessment are processed to generate a result and are not retained by us for other purposes.
Anonymous analytics events are retained in aggregate to guide product decisions.

Children

Pratela is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Your choices

Don't take lawn photos → no images ever leave your device.
Turn off iCloud for Pratela in iOS Settings → your data stays only on the device.
Uninstalling removes the on-device data.
